To make a mexican taco salad in my home is a necessity, since I have a busy family, like most people do these days. This simple and easy recipe that I would like to share with you. So when you are in a hurry and in a short amount of time, it can be another way that you can quickly whip up a healthy fast meal without a lot of fuss in the kitchen.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. of ground hamburger meat
  • 1 8 oz. bottle of thousand island dressing
  • 1 package of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 head of ice burg lettuce chopped in bite size pieces
  • Large bag of Doritos chips
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning any brand
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  1. Step 1

First, brown your ground meat in a skillet. Make sure you drain all of the fat from the meat. If you can afford it, buy low fat ground meat because it will save you a step in draining the fat off of the meat. Sprinkle in the taco seasoning that you can get from the grocery store, any brand will do. Follow the manufacture' s instructions on the packet.

  2. Step 2

Place in a large bowl, place the cut up ice burg lettuce (if you don't like the ice burg lettuce you can exchange that item for the many other type of lettuces that are out there on the market) with the shredded cheese. I also like to place in the bowl the chopped up tomatoes to give the dish some color and a different texture.

  3. Step 3

After the ground meat is prepared. Place it in the large bowl with all of the other cool ingredients and gently toss together. Once it is mixed completely it is time to add the thousand island dressing. Mix completely.

  4. Step 4

With your large bag of Doritos, open the bag slightly to let the air out slowly. Then crush the Doritos so that they are in small bite sized pieces. Once that is done, dump the Doritos into the salad bowl and mix again making sure that ALL of the chips are covered with the dressing.

  5. Step 5

Enjoy! This dish is excellent the next day after is has been refrigerated!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like onions in your salad, then finely chop a small onion and mix in!
  • With each serving try putting a dollop of sour cream onto the top of the salad for garnish.
