How to Take Care of a Welsh Corgi

If you have a Welsh Corgi, Pembroke or Cardigan, you probably already know that they make great companions. You may or may not know that Corgis also require special needs. This article will provide some steps to take to make sure that your Corgi is happy and healthy.

1. The first step is to regulate feeding. Corgis are voracious eaters and will immediately devour any piece of food they can access. Obesity is a problem for Corgis and can lead to serious health issues. Make sure you measure out your dog's food each time you feed him and avoid over feeding him treats between meals. If you have multiple dogs, train each dog to eat out of his or her own bowl only.

2. Corgis tend to have a longer coat, especially in the winter so you will need to brush your dog's hair out on a regular basis to keep it looking neat.

3. Finally, Corgis were bred to herd sheep and cattle all day and they need to have daily activity to stay healthy and release the excess energy. Try to walk your corgi or play actively with him for at least fifteen minutes each day.
