Perhaps you are at a point now to spend winter in Florida. The idea of spending a few months in paradise can be quite alluring. Perhaps you are retired and are seeking refuge from the wintry days to come. You may be someone that can easily travel in their career as an independent contractor or temporary consultant, able to choose their assignment locations. Here are some helpful steps that may smooth out some of the bumps and help you along the way. To spend winter in Florida has a few initial considerations and steps to take to fully enjoy a season or two in the tropical-like Florida escape.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
A turtle my dog was taunting. I took it in, washed him, checked for any injuries before releasing

Learn about Florida: the way of living, the laws, the ways things are conducted in general. There are some strict laws concerning the handling of wildlife. You may stumble upon a situation, know what to do ahead of time. An example is the gopher turtle, they are protected by Florida law. There are also many botanical orchids and deciduous plants that are guarded by Florida's laws.

  2. Step 2
From a remote cabin, a view of the live oak moss and nearby lake, very serene.

Decide the kind of tropical lifestyle you would like to experience. Perhaps each year you can explore a different aspect of what Florida has to offer. There are remote places by lakes or rivers. High rises are appealing to many, on the ocean, intracoastal or gulf side areas. Research the places that you are drawn to. Many great deals can be found online. Make sure your are dealing with reputable people. Check them out before signing leases, contracts or handing over a wad of money.

  3. Step 3
Be patient, try not to explode

Realize the term for you is "snowbirds", it's just a silly title and means nothing. Just get used to the way they do things in Florida and try to be patient; coming from the New York, Jersey, mid west or any other areas. Things may seem too relaxed and slowed down. Remember where you are. Try to adjust and stuff your mouth with cotton so you don't make a scene when things seem incomprehensible.

  4. Step 4
Evening cocktails, whlie watching the gulf sunset.

Enjoy the view, the way of life, the limitless amount of activities to explore. Most of all remember you are not cold and miserable.
