How to Pick the Correct Jump Rope Length for Kids
Selecting the proper jump rope length for your kids is important. If you give a child a jump rope that is too short, they may trip on it. If you give them one that is too long, they may not be able to swing it properly. With a little bit of planning before the purchase, and testing a couple of lengths in the store, you can get the perfect length for your child to enjoy for a long time.

1
Select a jump rope that appears to be an ideal length. Have your child stand on the middle of the jump rope and hold the handles in a comfortable position. The handles of the jump rope should reach to your child's pectoral muscles.

If you purchase a jump rope that is too long, you can remove one handle, cut the rope down to the ideal size, and then replace the handle.

Take your child's jumping style into account. If your child's arms tend to be placed further out to the sides, select a rope that is a little longer than required. If your child holds the handles of the jump rope low, a shorter rope may be selected.
