Cellulite is inevitable for many women regardless of weight or body fat percentage. Overweight women commonly have cellulite, but the Mayo Clinic points out that even women who are in good shape and at a healthy weight commonly struggle with the dimpling of the skin on the thighs, hips, and buttocks. While the creams and procedures advertised will not eliminate cellulite, there are ways to reduce its appearance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

  • Tanning lotion
  • Moisturizing lotion
  • Dark clothing

    How to Hide Cellulite

  1. Step 1

Apply a self-tanning lotion evenly and frequently over your entire body. According to www.CelluliteDiaries.com, this helps to reduce the appearance of the dimples and unevenness associated with cellulite. By using a tanning lotion rather than subjecting your skin to damaging UV rays, you will keep your skin looking and feeling healthy.

  2. Step 2

Apply a moisturizing lotion to the affected areas. Dry skin can have an uneven appearance as it is, so dry skin that is also affected by cellulite can seem to magnify the dimples. Keeping your skin hydrated and moisturize will help to even and soften your skin tone, making cellulite dimples less noticeable.

  3. Step 3

Dress appropriately. If you have cellulite on your upper thighs, stick to clothing that will cover the area. Even if you are relaxing on the beach, you can utilize a wrap or skirt to cover the cellulite but still enjoy your surroundings in style. Tight fitting clothes that are a darker color will be less likely to show cellulite than lighter colors.

  4. Step 4

Stay active. While there is no sure cure for cellulite, and it isn't necessarily just an issue for people who are overweight, toning muscles beneath skin that is affected by cellulite can help to reduce the appearance.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are unsure about a particular outfit, ask a friend you trust to give their opinion. It may also be helpful to set up your camera on a timer and snap a quick picture of yourself. All too often the image we see in the mirror isn't quite what the rest of the world sees. A picture can help you to see your overall appearance and possibly make a determination as to whether your cellulite is really that noticeable or if it is just something you've focused too much on.
  • Talk to your doctor before making drastic changes in diet or exercise. Examine all labels of tanning lotions or moisturizes for products you may be allergic to.
