How to Use a Trash Compacter

A trash compactor is a kitchen appliance designed to help you save room in your garbage. When you have a trash compactor, you throw away items as you would in a regular trash can. However, turning on the trash compactor actually allows the appliance to squash your garbage pile down, allowing you to throw more away in less space. Your trash compactor will only work when you use trash bags specifically designed for use with that trash compactor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Open the drawer. Use your foot to press down on the bar at the
base of the trash compactor, or you can use the handle at the top to pull
      the trash compactor drawer open.

    • 2

Place your trash appropriately into the trash compactor. If your trash is
wet or messy, wrap it in a plastic bag or cover it so it doesn't stick to
the compactor. Place bottles and cans on their sides in the middle of the
trash compactor so there's plenty of room to accommodate the broken glass and
pieces of aluminum that result when you compact the trash.

    • 3

Maintain the scent of your trash compactor by not throwing smelly items into
it. Raw meat, disposable diapers and personal hygiene
items all have a distinct smell that can stick around if you place them in
      your trash compactor.

    • 4

Close the drawer to your trash compactor. Make sure the seal is tightly
closed or it may not function properly.

    • 5

Turn the dial on the front of the trash compactor to "Start." The trash
compactor will stop automatically after it compacts your trash.
