How to Troubleshoot Installing Yahoo Toolbar
The Yahoo toolbar is a browser add-on that allows you to conveniently search for content no matter where you are on the Internet. Click the "Tools" button on your Internet Explorer web browser if you run into an error stating that your security settings are prohibiting the installation of the Yahoo toolbar. Click "Internet Options" to launch the Internet properties window.

Click the "Security" tab and choose the "Medium" security setting. Lowering the security setting from "High" to "Medium" enables you to download and install the Yahoo toolbar. Visit the Yahoo toolbar download page and click "Download" to install the application.

Uninstall and a previous version of the Yahoo toolbar from your computer if you are experiencing difficulty installing an update. To do so, click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel."

Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to launch the programs window if you are using Windows XP. Click "Program and Features" and click "Uninstall a program" to launch the programs window if you are using Windows Vista.

Scroll through the programs window and click the "Yahoo! Toolbar." Click "Remove/Uninstall" to remove it from your computer. Restart your web browser.

Go to the Yahoo toolbar download page and click "Download Now." Click "Run" and re-install the application on your computer. Restart your web browser.

Click the "View" button on your web browser if you do not see the Yahoo toolbar after installing it. Click "Toolbars" on the view menu and place a check on "Yahoo! toolbar" or "Yahoo! Companion" to display the toolbar.
