How to Fast With a Diabetic Diet

Diabetes results in your body's impaired control of blood sugar (glucose) levels, necessitating a specific diet to properly manage blood sugar to avoid further complications. While your diabetic diet might adversely impair your ability to fast for religious or personal reasons, it can be possible with some preparation and a willingness to make some sacrifices.

Finally, note that the American Diabetes Association does not approve of fasting for people with Type 2 diabetes, so proceed at your own risk.

For example, during the religious month of Ramadan, fasting is limited from sunup to sundown---before and after this time meals can be consumed.
