How to Remove Specks From Car Paint

Removing specks from car paint is a good idea when you want to keep your car looking clean. Specks from road tar and other debris can become embedded into the clear coat of your car's paint job, making it tough to remove. While you can pay an auto detailing shop to fix this for you, it is just as easy to remove the specks yourself. Park in the shade (out of direct sunlight) while doing this.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the car with soap and water. Use a sponge to remove loose dirt and debris.

    • 2

Dry the car with a lint-free towel.

    • 3

Place the detailing clay against the surface of the car's paint where the specks are. Rub the detailing clay over the specks that you want to remove. The clay will work to pull the specks out of the clear coat of the paint. This may take 2 minutes or 10 minutes, depending on how bad your car's paint is.
