How to Fix a Sticking Car Window
Automotive windows can stick or cease to function correctly due to several issues, including a misaligned pane of glass, debris in the window regulator, a damaged regulator, or damage to the door metal. Most of these problems can be repaired by the average backyard mechanic in about an hour.

1
Check the switches for moisture or debris by prying up one side of the switch assembly and pulling it from the opening in the arm rest or door panel. Some models may require mount screws be removed before prying up the assembly. Use a can of pressurized air, like the kind used for electronics, to spray into all crevices of the assembly, and check the wiring harness terminal contacts for corrosion. Replace the assembly by pressing it back into the panel or armrest, and securing any screws if applicable.

2
Inspect the window glass and window to door trim for debris or extreme dirt. Very dirty glass combined with a jammed or dirty door molding can make the window stick and fail to operate smoothly. Clean the window with spray glass cleaner, and clear debris out of the door molding gently with a small screwdriver. Test the window.

3
Remove the door panel by prying out the switch assembly, disconnecting it from the wiring harness, turning the interior door handle screws counterclockwise, turning the armrest bolts counterclockwise, then pulling the panel from the plastic pop rivets holding it to the metal. This will give access to the window regulator assembly and the glass mounts.

4
Inspect the window regulator for debris or malfunctioning joints or gears. Corrosion can cause the joints to stick, and the gears may also be ineffective. Spray the joints and gears with lithium grease, or if they are heavily rusted use 3-in-1 oil or even naval jelly.

5
Check the alignment of the window by moving it slightly back and forth for play. The bolts that crimp the glass may have come loose and can be fixed by turning the bolts clockwise gently.
-
6
Replace the door panel by pressing it back onto the metal until all pop rivets are engaged, then turning the arm rest and interior door handle fasteners clockwise until they are snug. Replace the switch assembly.
