How to Fix Sun Java
Java is a programming language necessary for the proper functioning of many websites. Developed by Sun systems, it makes the Web more interactive and allows you to use a variety of multimedia features, such as 3D imaging, chatting and online game play. Java can at times also run into errors; most of them are caused by system changes and registry problems. With some simple troubleshooting steps, resolve Java problems and improve your Web browser's functions.

Registry Cleaning

Run a registry cleaner program to fix errors. Most common Java problems are as a result of a corrupt, unmaintained or crowded registry. If you do not have a registry cleaner program, download a free program such as CCleaner (See Resources).

Launch the application when the install completes and click the "Registry" button on the left panel. Place a check on all the options under "Registry Integrity" and click "Scan for issues." The program scans the registry for damaged components such as DLL files, which are necessary for the program to function.

Click "Fix selected issues" once your program displays a list of damaged components. Click "Yes" to back up the registry when prompted to. Click "Fix all selected issues" once you complete the backup and click "OK" to resolve registry problems.
Resetting your Web Browser

Launch Internet Explorer and click the "Tools" button, located on the main menu. Scroll down and click "Internet Options" to launch the Internet properties window.

Click the "Advanced" tab and click "Reset" under "Reset Internet Explorer settings." Click "Reset" again. Internet Explorer will reset your browser settings.

Click "Close" in the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" dialoge box when the resetting process completes. Restart your Web browser. Resetting your Web browser is an additional step necessary for resolving Java errors on your Web browser.
Reinstalling Java

Uninstall Java from your computer if you are still having problems after performing the previous steps. To uninstall Java, click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel."

Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to launch the programs window if you are using a Windows XP systems. For Windows Vista users, launch the programs window by clicking "Program and Features," and clicking "Uninstall a Program."

Scroll through the programs window and click "Java." Click "Remove/Uninstall" and click "Yes" to confirm and remove the application from your computer.

Go go the Sun Java download page (See Resources) and click "Free Java Download." Click "Save" and download the installation file to your desktop.

Double-click the Java installation file and click "Run" to install the program to your computer.
