How to Design a Self-Assessment Sheet to Manage Time
Almost everyone can benefit from a good tip for managing their time effectively. If you are wondering whether to keep, drop or delegate a scheduled task, a good self-assessment sheet can help you make that decision, and help you manage your time. Designing a form and notating daily tasks on that form can help you access your schedule. Once you start to review how you are spending your time, you can then work to manage your time more efficiently. With some guidance and practice, time will be on your side!

1
Draw four columns on a sheet of paper, making the column lines the entire length of the paper. Insert the headings "Time," "Task," "Suitable Time" and "Keep/Drop/Delegate."
-
2
Write the hour that your day begins on the first line in the "Time" column. Add 15 minutes to the time your day begins, and write that new time on the second line. Continue down the sheet, adding 15 minutes to each time/line until you reach the time your day generally ends. For less-busy schedules, one-hour increments will work just fine.

3
List each activity you do, as you finish it, in the "Task" column. As the day progresses, write down each task next to the time it is done.
-
4
Mark "yes" or "no," or enter a more appropriate time in the "Suitable Time" column. While you are doing each activity, think about if it is the best time for this activity, or if another time would work better.
-
5
Decide if the activity or task is effective and should be continued; lacks usefulness and should be terminated; or has value, but you don't have enough time to devote to it. Write "keep," "drop" or "delegate" in the next column.
-
6
Complete daily worksheets for at least two weeks. Be faithful to the process by not skipping days or activities so that you get a true picture of how you spend your time. Ideally, enter information immediately after you finish a task while the details are fresh in your mind.
-
7
Review the information to determine where you need to make changes in your schedule.
