If you're tossing around words like "wicket" and "mallet," you're probably playing croquet, an outdoor sport that started in the British Isles in the mid-19th century. Heed these guidelines for conduct.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Determine the rules of the game beforehand, because there are numerous variations of croquet that can be played.

  2. Step 2

    Stay completely quiet while other players hit.

  3. Step 3

    Move out of another player's line of sight as he or she addresses and hits the ball.

  4. Step 4

    Follow any established timing rules. For instance, in a team game, each player has 45 seconds to attempt his or her shot.

  5. Step 5

    Conduct yourself in a well-behaved manner at all times.

Tips & Warnings
  • When dealing with frustration or anger, ponder the croquet maxim, which says that the only acceptable place to throw your mallet is straight up in the air.
