How to Get Rid of Round Worms in People
A roundworm is a parasitic worm that usually enters the body through consumption of contaminated food, water or soil. Roundworms can enter the lungs, block the intestines or cause a variety of problems if they become too numerous in your system. Once you've been diagnosed with roundworms, treatment is relatively simple.

1
Recognize roundworms. There are a wide variety of roundworm symptoms depending on where they are in your body. The most telling are non-specific gastrointestinal problems like vomiting or diarrhea and passing an adult worm through your mouth, nose or stool. Note that roundworms are primarily a problem in developing countries, so if you have not been to a region where roundworms are widespread, such as Africa or Asia, roundworms are unlikely.

Get diagnosed. If you think you have roundworms, you should consult a doctor. If the doctor deems it necessary, the test to confirm roundworms is a stool test. If worm eggs are found in your stool, you have roundworms.

Get medication. Two common medications for roundworms are mebendazole and piperazine. Mebendazole is recommended for children above the age of 1 and adults and kills the worms in a few days. Piperazine is for children 3-11 months old and usually kills the worms with a single dose. For children under 3 months, it is usually recommended that they wait until they are old enough for piperazine. You should ask your doctor for more information about these drugs, their use and their side effects before taking them.
