  1. How to Use Siberian Ginseng Root Powder

    • 1

Determine the type of Siberian ginseng to take. Siberian Ginseng is dispensed in several forms including fresh roots, tea, liquid extract, capsules or dried root powder.

    • 2

Calculate the dosage. Common dosage for the dried root powder is one or two grams per day divided over two or more doses. The powder can be placed in a gel capsule or mixed with juice or water. Common practice has been to take a month sabbatical from the supplement for every three months taking the substance.

New ginseng products are being developed where the active elements in the ginseng root are tested and prepared in standardized capsules or pills. Follow label directions if taking Siberian ginseng in this form.

    • 3

Watch for side effects. The only adverse side effects reported with Siberian ginseng have been diarrhea and insomnia if the supplement is taken late in the day.

While Siberian ginseng appears to have few interactions with prescription or nonprescription drugs a doctor should be consulted before beginning a ginseng regimen especially pregnant women, women taking hormone replacement therapy and children.
