Add tassels to your pillow corners to avoid the pointed corners when sewing throw pillows. When you pin your pillow together with the right sides together (the print that will face out after you turn your pillow to stuff it), insert a tassel into each corner. The tassels will break up the sharpness of the pointed corners.

2
Add fringe to the perimeter of your entire throw pillows. When you pin your pillow together with the right sides together, sandwich fringe in between for the entire perimeter while pinning, The fringe will also soften the pointed corners and they will not be noticeable at all.

Experiment with other fabric types when sewing throw pillows. Beginners tend to use stiffer, firmer materials when learning to sew. However, if you sew throw pillows using fake fur material or silk material, even the sharpest pointed corner will actually not feel sharp.

Alter your pattern to create rounded corners instead. Place your old pattern on some blank pattern paper, a large sheet of firm paper, or a paper grocery bag. Trace your original pattern with sharp pointed corners at a 90 degree angle. Then draw a rounded corner in one of the corner. Take another sheet of paper, trace this rounded corner, cut the curve out, and use it as a template to create the same exact round for each of your corners on your new rounded corner throw pillow pattern. Or just print and enlarge the template for a throw pillow with rounded corners.

Alter your four-corner traditional square throw pillow pattern by making a new pattern that you cut the edges off of each corner. This will create two angles in each corner; however, the angles will be greater or wider than the 90 degree right angles used previously, so the angles will not result in sharp pointed corners.

Tips & Warnings
Cut a few notches out of the corners of your throw pillows before turning them to release some of the tension in the corners; this will reduce the sharp pointed corners.
Iron the seams in the corners open before stuffing the pillow or adding the pillow form; this will also help you to avoid the pointed corners when sewing throw pillows.
