How to Measure for Plus Size Girls
The female body can range from svelte and petite to muscular and athletic to voluptuous and plus-size. Regardless of the category your frame falls under, you can take your measurements quite easily. Plus-size girls have a number of options when it comes to finding the perfect size. Whether you are top-heavy, bottom-heavy or have a pear-shaped form, you can learn your true measurements with just a measuring tape and a size chart.

1
Stand against a wall. Keep your feet bare and press your back against the wall. Start your measurement from the floor and pull it to the top of your head without allowing any slack.
-
2
Measure your bust. Start from the fullest part of your breast, generally at the center of the bust, and run the measuring tape around the back until you circle back of around to the center of the bust. In other words, the measuring tape should start and end at the same point. Hold the measuring tape so that it is taut, but do not put pressure on the bust.

3
Measure your waist. Start at your waistline and position the measuring tape so it settles comfortably without pinching the skin. This is your waist measurement, which can also be taken by using an elastic band. The band is placed around the waistline to ensure a comfortable and accurate measurement. Place the measuring tape over the elastic band and measure all the way around the waistline.

4
Measure the hips. Start at the fullest part of the hips, which is approximately 7 to 9 inches from the waistline. Hold the measuring tape securely for an accurate and comfortable fit.

Consult a U.S. plus-size chart to determine your actual size. U.S. plus-size garments generally range from 1X to 4X, with the bust ranging from 39 to 41 inches (1X) to 50 or more inches (4X); the waist ranging from 32 to 35 inches (1X) to 44 or more inches (4X); and the hips ranging from 40 to 43 inches (1X) to 52 or more inches (4X).

Tips & Warnings
You should breathe normally while being measured, allowing the body to relax completely.
Never try to tighten your abdominals or bust to change your measurement. This is especially true for garments such as a corset, which is designed to cinch the waist and lift the breasts. Plus-size girls should be fitted for these and other garments according to their true shape.
