VMware allows Mac users to create virtual machines inside Mac operating systems. You can run any operating system you choose on the virtual machine, including Microsoft Windows operating systems, Linux and Ubuntu. You can run the virtual machines in full-screen mode, so that the entire display shows only the virtual machine and its operating system. However, if you want to return to the VMware terminal, you must exit the full-screen mode.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Move the cursor to the top of the screen on the virtual machine. When it reaches the upper edge of the screen, both the VMware menu bar and the Macintosh OS menu bar will appear over the virtual machine display.

  2. Step 2

Click the "Apple" icon in the OS menu bar to access the VMware terminal indirectly, then click the "VMware Workstation" link in the drop-down menu. This opens the VMware workstation terminal.

  3. Step 3

Click the VMware menu bar to access the VMware terminal directly.

Tips & Warnings
  • The directions described apply only to accessing VMware terminal console sessions from within Mac operating systems. Different directions apply when accessing the VMware console from within other operating systems.
