Your kitchen is the most important room in your house to keep clean because it’s where the meals you serve your family are prepared. It’s used more than any room in the house and the kitchen requires the most work to keep clean. You feel a great deal of satisfaction when you have a nice clean kitchen. With a little organizing it’s not difficult to clean your kitchen from top to bottom.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soap and water
  • Oven cleaner
  • Sponge
  • Mop
  1. Step 1

Fill your sink with hot soapy water. Change water as it becomes dirty. If you have dirty dishes , wash the dishes or put them in dishwasher. If dishwasher is full start it. You don’t need dirty dishes in sink if you’re doing a top to bottom cleaning. Put a cap full of bleach in hot soapy water to disinfect the kitchen. Do appliances first.

  2. Step 2

Clean out refrigerator and throw out all old food. Take out trays and wash. Wipe inside with sponge soaked in hot soapy water. Don’t forget around the inside of door. Replace trays. Wipe the top, the sides and front. Give special attention around the handles.

  3. Step 3

Turn the automatic oven cleaner on or if you don’t have an automatic oven cleaner turn oven on to 200 degrees and spray with oven cleaner Let it set until last so baked on food will be loose.

  4. Step 4

Take everything off the kitchen counters. Wash them and put anything you don’t use everyday away. The less you have on the counter the easier it is to keep clean and the neater it’ll look.

  5. Step 5

Open the kitchen cabinet doors and wipe out each cabinet including the inside of doors. See resources about putting polyurethane inside your cabinets to make them easier to clean. Start on the left and work to the right all away around. Do the top first and then the bottom. Organize the kitchen cabinet contents as you clean.

  6. Step 6

Start in the top left corner and clean walls and outside of cabinets from top to bottom covering a five foot wide area. Do this all the way around the kitchen. Clean cob webs and wipe down cabinets and counter tops all around the kitchen. Pay special attention to the area around the handles that get the most use. Wash around the appliances and the areas next to the kitchen floor under the cabinets. Clean the light fixture and ceiling fan.

  7. Step 7

Wipe out the oven, wash any dishes left and let the water out of the sink and scrub. Wipe down the dishwasher. Mop the kitchen floor to finish the job.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make it a habit to put thing up when you finish using them.
