How to Bring The Vineyard Home With an Indoor Grape Arbor

I love arbors so much that I couldn't resist bringing the outdoors in with a grape arbor over my cafe window. Along with the warm tile floors, the arbor gave my cafe an instant Tuscan feel--exactly what I was looking for.
Here are a few simple instructions for making an indoor grape arbor:

Things You'll Need

• 2 2x2 pieces of wood the desired width of your grape arbor
• 2' long pieces of 2x2 wood
• 2 1/2" wood screws
• eye hooks
• picture-hanging wire
• silk grapevines and faux grapes
• grape cluster lights (optional)

Instructions

1. 

   Cut two 2x2 pieces of wood wide enough to span the area you want to create an "indoor vineyard."

2. 

   Enlarge the image to your left to understand these instructions.
   Cut enough pieces of 2x2 in 2' lengths to place over the long pieces--spaced two inches apart. Screw the short 2x2s into the long 2x2s. Screw in several eye hooks on the top side of the arbor. Using picture-hanging wire, hang the arbor from hooks screwed into the ceiling (with drywall reinforcers).

3. 

   Drape your indoor arbor with silk grapevines and faux grapes.
   For a festive look (say, around Christmas), add a string or two of grape cluster lights.

Tips & Warnings

• If you're artistic, paint a vineyard mural on the wall below the grape arbor. Serve with cheese and wine!
