Despite what others may tell you, it is possible to go without cable TV. Whether the overall economy is tough or it is just your economy, you can still enjoy TV without any type of paid TV subscription.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • TV with connections
  • Internet
  • Digital TV converter box
  • Antenna
  1. Step 1

Connect a Digital Converter Box to your analog TV set. All of a sudden it will feel like you have cable, complete with a clear picture and channels you never knew existed, including 24/7 weather. Set the box to scan for channels you may have missed.

  2. Step 2

Set up a rooftop antenna or just place a smaller antenna on top of your analog TV set. If you do not have an analog TV, you can skip to step 3.

  3. Step 3

Connect your computer to your digital HDTV via a cable or wireless connection. Then surf the Internet for free movie and TV websites. Some are listed in resources.

  4. Step 4

Steam the Internet to your digital television and watch normally. You may have to put up with a few commercials, but watch times are significantly less than watching regular TV.

  5. Step 5

Visit your local video store or redbox DVD kiosk and rent videos for a relatively low cost. Be sure to sign up for email specials from these places or rent non new release to save money.

  6. Step 6

Watch TV shows and movies directly on your laptop or computer if you are not able to connect directly to your TV. This gives you an option if you are traveling or need to pass some time while waiting for children or appointments.
