Joining the Army National Guard with a GED

Have you tried to join the Army National Guard lately but have been told that because you have a GED you can't enlist? It's a shame you've been marked as a black sheep but if you are serious about wanting to serve your country in the Army National Guard then follow these few steps to increase your chances of getting in!

Instructions

    • 1

First you must remove the label that has been placed upon you at the recruiting office. You are a "GED Holder." In order to join the Army National Guard you must not be a GED holder but rather a "college student."

    • 2

Go to your nearest community college or technical college and enroll yourself for the easiest and fastest courses available. You can even enroll in an online school if it is properly accredited.

    • 3

If you are going to a community college then know that you need at least 12 semester hours of college under your belt before the National Guard will view you as a college student and no longer a GED Holder. That's only 4 passed classes at the standard full time rate!

    • 4

If you are going the technical college route and the school operates on the quarter system then you must achieve at least 22 quarter hours. Once you have completed your 22nd quarter hour at the tech school you can now re-apply for enlistment into the National Guard. Good Luck!

Tips & Warnings

  • It doesn't matter what classes you sign up for. The military only cares that you at least complete something ... anything!
