Homeowner's insurance is expensive. You can save 20% on homeowner's insurance in Texas by protecting your home. See the steps below to save on homeowner's insurance in Texas.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a monitored alarm system and schedule an appointment with a local police officer to do a complimentary home security inspection. The police officer will inspect all aspects of your home related to security. This inspection will not only aid you in reducing your homeowner's insurance, it will also help keep you and your home safe.

  2. Step 2

After the police officer has inspected your home, they should issue forms to the Texas Department of Insurance. There will be 2 different forms for door and window locks as well as your monitored alarm system. The Texas Department of Insurance will send you 2 certificates.

  3. Step 3

Submit the 2 certificates to your insurance agent along with a certificate from your alarm company with the date your alarm was activated and you should get a 20% reduction on your homeowner's insurance.

Tips & Warnings
  • Savings will be different with different homeowner's insurance agencies. Check with your homeowner's insurance agent for the exact savings.
