Popcorn butter topping is a favorite for the kids!

The perfect butter flavor popcorn can only be found when you make it homemade. Taking a few minutes to prepare this yummy treat will have your kids excited and the movie that much better to watch. Popping popcorn can be quick, but if you spend an extra five minutes putting on this topping, your butter popcorn will have flavor and be perfect.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 pinch of salt (more to taste if needed)
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • Wax Paper
  • whisk to blend mixture
  1. Step 1

Start by popping your popcorn and have it ready for your butter flavor topping. Instead of placing the popcorn a bowl, toss it on top of the wax paper and spread it out to have an even layer on the counter. Allow the popcorn to cool.

  2. Step 2

While the popcorn is cooling, place the butter in a microwave safe bowl and start the microwave on high to allow the butter to melt. Make sure to keep an eye on the butter so it doesn't burn.

  3. Step 3

Once the butter is entirely melted, bring out the butter and place the salt and sugar into the hot mixture. Keep stirring the butter to allow the two ingredients to be completed mixed in.

  4. Step 4

Now that you have mixed the ingredients, use your whisk to really fluff the butter. Carefully start pouring the mixture on the laid out popcorn as you are whisking to allow the mixture to land on the kernels but not pour out. Do this until you have completed covered the top of the popcorn on the wax paper.

  5. Step 5

Once you have the popcorn and butter together, place the popcorn in a big bowl and enjoy. Notice how the kernels are not soggy and the flavor is tasted throughout the entire mouthful of the snack instead of one or two kernels.

Tips & Warnings
  • To lower your calories, use a butter alternative or light butter.
  • 1/4 of butter will be enough for 2 bags of popcorn
  • More salt could be added depending how much you like. Taste to personally adjust.
  • Popping popcorn should be done first and allow the kernels time to cool off. Cool kernels allow the mixture to set differently.
  • Melted butter is hot. Watch not to burn yourself.
