How to Create a Jungle Nursery Theme
Bright colors, bold patterns and whimsical accents are the basis of a fun nursery. Create a vibrant space full of oversized stuffed jungle animals, murals of lush tropical plants and mosquito net canopies and curtains. A gender-neutral theme, jungle decorations are ideal for families who elect not to learn the baby's sex, for families with multiples or to create a nursery theme that can be used from one child to the next. Bedding and toys with a jungle or safari theme complete the look. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Paint the walls a bold shade of green to create the feeling of being deep inside the jungle. Sheets of painted canvas mounted on the walls can give you the same effect in rental homes or locations where you would prefer not to put such a strong color on the walls.
-
2
Create murals of jungle landscapes including lush plants and flowers, silhouettes of monkeys and textured birds with real feathers to add dimension. Use contact paper to make removable or temporary murals, and add nylon butterflies, artificial flowers and leaves to make the mural pop.

3
Hang mosquito nets to create a canopy and curtains that lend an authentic feeling. Leaf-patterned fabric or solid-colored fabric with artificial leaves affixed to it turns ordinary windows into a whimsical element of the room. Accent windows with decorative clings or suncatchers of birds, suns and rainbows.
-
4
Finish the space with bedding and accessories. Use solid colored bedding to avoid making the nursery too busy, while accent pieces like crib bumpers, quilts or blankets in designs that complement the curtains and murals make the decor cohesive. Novelty lamps, light fixtures, switch plates and other details add polish.
