Christmas cards are a rich tradition. However, many of them have become so commercialized they leave out the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus Christ. Learn how to make your own Christmas cards that reflect Christian messages and send the good news of what Christmas is all about.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bible verses
  • paper and pen or computer
  • glue, old Christmas cards or photos
  1. Step 1

Send your own Christmas cards this year with Christian messages on cards that you actually make. It is easy to do and means a great deal to people that you would take the time to make and personalize their very own Christmas card.

  2. Step 2

Look in the Bible for specific scripture verses that are related to the birth of Christ. Some of the more well-known verses are: Mattew 1:18-35, Luke 1:26-45, Mattew 2:1-12 and Luke 2:1-40.

  3. Step 3

If you are good with a computer you can typeset the card and print it and may even have a program that makes cards. If so, that is GREAT! If not, make them the old fashion way with paper, colored pencils, glue and photos are clippings out of a magazine or from old Christmas cards you may have. Be sure to choose one that will match your Christian message.

  4. Step 4

Make the cards as personal as you can using the person's name/s and a photo of you and them incorporated into the card or a greeting that is a special statement about your relationship to them. An example would be: Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ together since first grade . . . wishing you and your family the merriest Christmas of all! You could put a photo of the two of you past or present on the card.

  5. Step 5

Another example would be a Christian message remembering the reason for the season and the greatest two gifts of all: Jesus' birth and your special friendship. The more personal you can make the card the better and be sure to remember the entire point of Christmas, to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Tips & Warnings
  • Extend a Christian message to match the Christian holiday. While Santa Claus, elfs and decorations are nice, a Christian message better represents a Christian holiday. Plus it gives you an opportunity to express your gratitude to God.
  • Christmas has become far too commercialized in so many areas that it helps to get back to the real meaning of it.
