Depending where you are traveling to, flights can be very expensive. But here is how you can get low cost flights.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Use frequent flyer miles.
Some airline companies will allow you to use your frequent flyer miles for a discounted air line ticket instead of using more for a free airline ticket. By applying this you can get many low cost flights. The more frequent flyer points you have to spend, the more you can save. Points can be earned by booking flights, shopping, eating out, etc. It all depends on the airline company you are going through. So search around so you can get low cost flights on the majority that you book.

  2. Step 2

    Flying standby.
If you do not have a set date for when you need a flight, then look into flying standby. By waiting to see if there are any seats left on a flight you can be offer a ticket at a very low cost. The one disadvantage to this is if you are planning on flying at a busy time of year it can sometimes be days before you actually can get a low cost flight by buying a standby seat.

  3. Step 3

    Specials.
Many airline companies will offer events where you can get low cost flights. Sometimes they only last for 24 hours so it is important to constantly check their website for specials and deals. Even if you are not traveling for 5 or 6 months they might offer a special for during the times you are planning on traveling. One great way to keep up with airline specials is to join their email list.
