Things You'll Need:
- Strawberry pot
- Soil-less mixture
- Strawberry plants
- Cardboard gift wrapping tube
- Gravel

Step 1
Choose your pot. The best strawberry pots have flared holes or cup extensions that support the fruit. These upward flares also prevent water and soil from escaping the pot. Soak a terracotta pot in water for two hours so that it won't rob the plant of water later.
-
Step 2
Make a watering channel. To do this, cut a wrapping paper tube the same height as your pot and insert it in the middle. Fill it with gravel.
-
Step 3
Plant your strawberries. Pour a sterile mix, also called a soil-less mix into the bottom of the pot. It shouldn't go over the lip of the first planting pocket. Gently pull apart the roots of your first strawberry plant and insert it into the pocket at a downward angle. Cover the roots with the soil-less mixture. Repeat this process until there is about 3 inches left at the top of the pot. Plant a few strawberries in the top of the pot, being sure their roots are completely covered just as the lower plant roots are.
-
Step 4
Water your strawberries. In order to do this you will need to remove the cardboard tube, being careful not to upset or spill the gravel. Pour a small amount of water into each pocket. Pour water into the gravel, which will act as a conduit so the water can steadily soak the plants. Be sure to keep the soil moist in order to ensure a succulent crop of strawberries.

Step 5
Care for your plants. For the first few days it is best to keep the pot in a shady area. After you put it in the sun, remember to rotate the pot three times a week so that each plant can gain enough sun exposure. Water twice daily.
