Windows XP comes with many features. Some of the most used features are the Accessibility Choices. However, like most other things in the XP operating system, these choices can be removed either accidentally or by a spyware/adware program. While restoring these options can be difficult if you're not sure how to go about it, there is an easy method of restoring Windows XP Accessibility Choices.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows XP CD-Rom (Optional)
  1. Step 1

Click "Start," then "Settings" and "Control Panel.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click "Add or Remove Programs."

  3. Step 3

Click "Add/Remove Windows Components" and the Windows Components Wizard will start.

  4. Step 4

Select the check boxes next to "Accessibility Wizard," "Magnifier," "Narrator," "On-Screen Keyboard" and "Utility Manager" within the Components list. All of these are a part of the Accessibility Choices and each need to be restored in order for Accessibility Choices to be restored.

  5. Step 5

Click "OK" and then click "Next."

  6. Step 6

Insert the Windows XP CD-Rom when prompted by the installer and click "OK."

  7. Step 7

Click "OK" again to locate your Windows XP files and then select "Browse" and go to your CD-ROM drive and then the "I386" folder.

  8. Step 8

Click "Finish" to complete the restoration of your Windows Accessibility Choices.

  9. Step 9

Click "Start," "Shutdown," and "Restart." After restarting your computer, the Accessibility Choices will again appear in the Control Panel.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't add or remove components that you're unsure about. You may think it is safe to remove a certain component when, in reality, it's actually something you may need. That's why it's a good idea to heavily research a component before adding or removing it.
