1
Organize your search for auctions by using multiple sources, such as the Internet and local newspapers and magazines.

2
Start your search online. Many websites can help you find auctions, and you can search by such categories as keyword, postal code, state, distance and property type. Some sites to try: Williams and Williams Worldwide (http://www.williamsauction.com), the National Auctioneers Association (http://www.naarealestateauctions.com) and http://www.myaffordablerealestate.com.

Remember Uncle Sam during your search. The U.S. Treasury Department has a website for seized property that's up for auction (http://www.treas.gov/auctions/treasury/rp). This site advertises auctions throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. You can search for a variety of property types. Also, check the website for your city's district attorney's office, or call your local city hall if you are interested in a particular property and inquire about upcoming sheriff's sales.
