How to Hang a Mirror on Drywall
Adding a mirror is a simple, elegant way to create ambiance, drama and the illusion of more space in a room. Hanging a mirror on drywall, however, is more than just hammering a nail into the wall and can seem a little intimidating at first glance. Mirrors are notoriously heavy, requiring something substantial and sturdy to keep them in place. While not quite as simple as hanging a photograph, hanging a mirror doesn't have to be difficult, especially if you have someone help you with the lifting and positioning. Planning ahead and starting with the right tools are the keys to success. Does this Spark an idea?

1
If hanging hardware is not already present, install two heavy-duty D-rings on the back of the mirror, positioned far enough from the top to allow for a slight arch in the hanging wire. Pull heavy-gauge mirror wire through one D-ring, twisting and knotting it to prevent unraveling. Thread the wire through the second D-ring, pulling it taut and securing in the same way.

2
Mark the center point of the top edge of the mirror lightly with a pencil on the wall. Starting from this point, measure one quarter the width of the mirror in each direction, and mark with a vertical line. Use a level to determine where along the vertical lines to place the screws for hanging, marking with a pencil.

Use a drill to make two pilot holes for drywall anchors. Install the anchors, leaving approximately 1/4-inch of screw exposed for hanging the wire.

4
Hang the mirror by wire. Adjust as needed to make it hang level.
