1
Turn off any water running to the hot water tank. If you have a tank already installed, remove and discard properly as per codes and regulations in your area.
-
2
Set the new heater in place, and level it using a leveling tool. If you cannot level the new heater on its own, use cylinder blocks to level it.
-
-
3
Wrap the threads of the water inlet and the outlet fittings on top of the tank with pipe tape. Using a wrench, screw on the water inlet line and the outlet line to the top of your new unit.
-
4
Open the water line to fill the tank. Open a couple of water faucets in your house to allow the air to bleed out of the tank as it fills with water.
-
5
Plug the hot water heater into an electrical outlet. If the heater uses gas, connect the gas line to the new tank using a wrench. Turn a faucet on, and let the water run warm to ensure the tank works properly.
