Instructions

    • 1

Cut off the bottom of the headboard and lower it so it is the same height as the footboard. Drill new holes in the headboard at the same level as the footboard holes that allow the footboard to attach to the bed frame.

    • 2

Sand down rough edges where the headboard was cut. Sand the entire headboard and footboard lightly to prepare for painting.

    • 3

Paint two coats of your selected paint, allowing dry time in between coats. Reattach the headboard and footboard to the bed frame. Distress the edges of the wood to remove some of the paint if you like a shabby chic style.

    • 4

Purchase a daybed skirt and comforter for the daybed. Add three or four king sized pillows in decorative pillow shams to go along the back of the bed to give the appearance of a couch. Select three to five additional decorative pillows to place in front of the back pillows. Be creative; use coordinating colors and various shapes and sizes such as round, square and bolster style pillows.
