Turmeric is a yellow Indian spice, often used in curry and other Indian recipes. It can also be used as a yellow fabric dye, as it penetrates fabrics very deeply. This characteristic of turmeric makes it very difficult to clean up accidental spills, especially out of carpet, which is difficult to clean at the best of times. However, with the right materials and some patience these stains can be removed.

Step 1

Blot the stain as soon as it happens, if possible. Place a folded cloth over the stain and press down gently. This will remove excess moisture and help prevent the stain from setting deeply.
