How to Buy Metric Bolts

2. Determine the thread distance you need. This will be the second number in the bolt identification.

3. Determine the bolt length you need. This will be the third number in the bolt identification.

4. Purchase a bolt that matches your dimensions. For example, if you were looking for a bolt that had a diameter 8 millimeters, a 1.4-millimeter thread distance and was 18 millimeters long, you would purchase a bolt with the identification 8x1.4x18.
