Cleaning the Cast Iron Skillet

Rinse the skillet thoroughly with warm to hot water.

Use a small amount of dish washing liquid for the first washing.

Wash well with a nonmetal brush or other nonabrasive item, like a sponge or cloth.

Rinse well to remove the soapy residue.

Dry the skillet immediately.
Seasoning the Cast Iron Skillet

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Coat the inside of the skillet with vegetable oil.

Bake in the oven for about an hour.

Remove the skillet from the oven and let cool to room temperature.
