How to Replace a Nissan Altima Fender

by Shayrgo Barazi

If you were involved in a fender bender, it may be cheaper for you in the long run to replace the fender yourself. Rather than make an insurance claim, for example, you might want to simply replace the fender yourself so that your insurance premiums don't increase. Fortunately, there are many companies that manufacture affordable body parts, including fenders for Nissan Altimas.

Step 1

Open and prop up the hood.

Step 2

Use the ratchet to remove the bolts that attach the fender to the body from under the hood. There are five bolts that you must remove.

Step 3

Open the front door on the side of the car on which the fender is being replaced. In the space between the door and the fender, there are three bolts to remove. Remove them with the ratchet and an extension attached to it.

Step 4

Lift off and remove the fender, and replace it with the new one.

Step 5

Hand-tighten the bolts that secure the fender to the body, and align the fender with the hood. There should only be a small, even gap all the way across the hood. To reposition the fender, simply pull or push on it. Once the fender is positioned correctly, tighten the bolts with the ratchet.
