How to Make a Split Screen in Windows Explorer

Switching to and from Windows Explorer windows can be a pain. Things can be far easier if you view your separate windows at the same time on your screen. This can be done by utilizing the split screen view, available in any Explorer window. By shortening the width (side by side view) or height (stacked view) of your windows, the split screen view allows you to view your different windows at the same time.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Windows Explorer windows and minimize them to your taskbar by pressing the "Minimize" button at the top right of the window.

    • 2

Press and hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard. Click on the windows minimized in the taskbar while still holding the Ctrl key to select them.

    • 3

Right-click on one of the Explorer windows in your taskbar. A context menu will open up, giving you the option of setting up your split screen to be either side by side or stacked (one above the other).
