How to Convert a Gym Bag Into a Camera Bag

Camera bags can become expensive. They have special pockets for particular parts of your camera and photography/lighting kit. However, if you are a beginning photographer, you've probably already spent more money than you expected to on your camera, why spend more on a camera bag when you can easily convert your gym bag into a camera bag?

      Take all your gym things out of your gym bag. You don't want to be digging for film or a camera memory card and come up with deodorant so make sure that you completely clear out all of your gym paraphernalia before you do anything else.

      Clean the inside of your bag, make sure that it is dry and free of any powders or other things that can damage your camera equipment.

      Put the big things in first. If you have a tripod for your camera, fit that into the gym bag first. You might also have lighting tools such as umbrellas and camera lights with their own tripods that need to go into your new camera bag first.

      Make sure that all of the big items are organized in such a way that they will not be damaged.

      Put in your camera. Make sure that your camera is properly stored within its own bag. Most likely the camera bag that came with your camera when you bought it. If you didn't get one with it, then go out and buy a camera bag that will only fit your camera in it. Also make sure that your camera lenses are secure within their cases before you put them into your new camera bag.

      Put in all of your film or memory cards into a zip lock bag so that they are in one convenient place, then put those into the camera bag also.

      Zip up your new camera bag and store it somewhere dry, cool and safe. Make sure nothing is going to fall on your camera bag and crush the things inside it.
