How to Remove a Keloid

A keloid can form on a fresh, healing, or closed body piercing. This type of growth is primarily scar tissue, and can form outside of the body piercing. Keloids are most commonly on the outside of the wound, as a raised scar. A keloid can only be removed with a surgical procedure or injections from a licensed medical professional. The removal procedure prescribed will depend heavily on the shape and size of your keloid. The shape and size of the keloid varies from person to person.

      Go to your general practitioner and ask for a referral for a dermatologist.

      Ask the dermatologist which keloid removal method will work best for the condition of your keloid. Inquire about traditional and laser surgery, radiation and cryosurgery. Ask the doctor if cortisone injections are a possibility.

      Consider all of the options that are available for removal of your keloid. Choose which option you are most comfortable with and book the procedure with your dermatologist.
