Things You'll Need:
- KitchenAid mixer
- KitchenAid pasta attachment
- Pasta dough
-
Step 1
Insert the corkscrew looking part (grind worm) into the grinder body. The longer metal end of the grind worm goes into the grinder body first. You will assemble the pasta attachment before securing it to the main mixer.
-
Step 2
Fit the pasta plate you intend to use over the exposed end of the grinder worm and match the tabs of the plate with the notches on the grinder body. The pasta maker typically comes with five different pasta plates. Pasta plates are circular disks with holes of different shapes and sizes for the pasta dough to be pushed through.
-
Step 3
Place the ring on the grinder body, over the pasta plate to secure. Turn the ring by hand and tighten until secure. Do not over tighten.
-
Step 4
Turn off and unplug the main mixer.
-
Step 5
Turn the attachment knob counterclockwise to loosen. This is the knob located on front of the mixer.
-
Step 6
Remove the attachment hub cover. This will pull off when the attachment knob is loosened.
-
Step 7
Fit the pasta maker's shaft (opposite end of the pasta plate) into the attachment hub.
-
Step 8
Rotate the shaft slightly, back and forth, until it snugly fits into the attachment hub. The pin on the attachment will fit into the hub's notch when fitted properly.
-
Step 9
Tighten the attachment knob until the pasta maker is secured to the mixer.
-
Step 10
Place the pasta dough in the top of the grinder body. Plug the mixer in and turn on to begin extruding the pasta. Use the food pusher to push the dough into the grinder.
-
Step 11
Rest the mixer for an hour if extruding two consecutive pasta recipes.
