How to Create Your Own Mobile Themes
Making your own cell phone theme does not have to be hard. There are many websites on the Internet to help you out, and you don't even have to know how to code. Three of the most popular sites are Zedge, OwnSkin and MyFoneThemes. Zedge is completely free, but you do have to skip through ads when you first plug into the maker. OwnSkin has no ads and the basic maker is free, but you can upgrade for a fee. MyFoneThemes charges a small fee per theme.

Register with one of the websites listed above. Each has a different tool, so the exact steps are a little different depending on which site you choose. These steps will be customized for the Zedge tool.

List the make of your phone on your registration, so that the tool can determine whether it is compatible with your phone type. Even if it is not, you can choose a different phone from a list on the next page.

Choose a phone from the list, and then click the "browse" button to select an image or picture as your wallpaper. You may already have a picture or image that you made that you want to include or you may want to search the Internet for one. Click the "upload" button once you have found one.

Click the "screensaver" and "background" tabs, and repeat Step 3 in order to get a picture or image for those two selections. You won't have to choose the phone type again, but will need to do the rest.

Select the "color" tab and get a color for your theme. There are eight basic colors that you will be able to use to match with your theme, but you can only choose one.

Upload a ringtone for your theme by clicking on the "ringtone" tab and searching for a .mid, .mp3 or .acc file on your computer. The file must be under 1MB.

Confirm your theme under the "download" tab. There will be a live preview screen on the side where you will be able to see your theme and make sure it is what you want. Click the "create theme" button to complete your theme.
