Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect power to the pool pump by unplugging the electrical cord or turning the circuit breaker off.

    • 2

Open all drain valves on the pool skimmer and pool pump to allow the pool water level to go below the pool return line. This is important so you can cleanly replace the pool filter without water coming out of the return line.

    • 3

Close the water valves on the pool skimmer and open the water valve on the pool filter. This will drain the remaining water in the pool filter's drum, and avoid the loss of unnecessary water.

    • 4

Disconnect the filter from the pool pump by unscrewing the hose clamp that secures the pool hose to the filter from the pump. Some newer models are equipped with a connector between the pool pump and pool filter. If this is the case, use a large wrench to unscrew the connector from the pool pump.

    • 5

Detach the pool filter from the pool return line by unscrewing the hose clamp that secures the pool hose from the pool return line to the pool filter.

    • 6

Remove the filter from the area and dispose of it. Place the new filter in the area and make sure the filter is level.

    • 7

Reconnect the pool filter to the pool pump by either screwing on the connector with a large wrench, or replacing the pool hose and hose clamp. If using a hose clamp, be sure to tighten the screw securely. Connect the return pool hose to the newly installed pool filter.

    • 8

Open the water valve located on the pool skimmer to allow water to freely flow into the pool pump and pool filter. Fill the pool back up to the necessary level, and prime your filter for use per the owner's manual.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your hands are completely dry before plugging the pool pump back into an electrical outlet to avoid electrical shock.
