MDF files, also known as Media Disk Image files, are virtual images of the data contained in a CD or DVD. The MDF format is a useful format for creating a digital backup of your CDs and DVDs. BIN files are another type of image file that is very similar to MDF files. The process to convert an MDF file to a BIN file is quick and easy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make a copy of your MDF file before beginning the conversion process. It is always a good idea to back up your files before making any changes.

  2. Step 2

Select the MDF file you want to convert and right-click it to bring up the menu.

  3. Step 3

    Select "Rename" from the menu.

  4. Step 4

Enter the title you wish your BIN file to have and, instead of ending the file with ".MDF", end the filename with ".BIN". This will automatically change the file association for your file.
