There is nothing worse than turning your entire bathroom into a bathtub when your shower curtain fails to contain water during a shower. A good shower curtain will both enhance your bathroom décor and cut down on stray shower sprays by forming a solid barrier against the water. You can prevent shower water from pooling on your bathroom floor and spraying the walls by taking a little extra care during and after your shower.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shower curtain (preferably with suction cups)
  1. Step 1

Angle the shower head's spray so that it is directed into the center of the bathtub or shower stall, not straight at the shower curtain.

  2. Step 2

Drape the shower curtain inside the edge of the bathtub or shower stall. If you have a two-piece shower curtain, drape the liner inside the bathtub or shower stall and leave the decorative outer curtain hanging free outside.

  3. Step 3

Make sure the curtain is stretched all the way to the outer edges of the shower rod, forming a seal along the length of the shower stall. If the curtain has suction cups on its outer edges, use these to attach it to the edges of the shower stall. Ideally the curtain's side edges should be curled in toward you, not out.

  4. Step 4

Leave the curtain on the inside of the shower enclosure to keep water from dripping on the floor. Spread out the curtain along the length of the shower rod to promote faster drying. Once the curtain is dry you can drape it outside the enclosure if you like.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your shower curtain does not have suction cups you can use rubber cement or hot glue to attach suction cups.
  • If you are allergic to or don't like the smell of standard shower curtain materials such as vinyl, latex or PVC, you can purchase natural fiber shower curtains that still keep excess splashes under control.
