How to Rig a Sheffield Float for Steelhead Float Fishing
A Sheffield float is a torpedo-shaped fishing bobber that has gained in popularity as a deadly tool in an angler's arsenal when going after Steelhead trout. The float is designed not only to mark the angler's spot, but to hold the bait at the depth where the trout are feeding. The sliding design of the Sheffield float makes adjustments fast and easy.

1
Pull the vinyl tubes straight out of the top and bottom of the float body.
-
2
Thread the end of the fishing line through a tube and insert the tube into the red or colored end of the float body.
-
-
3
Hold the line against the side of the float and thread the line through the second vinyl tube.
-
4
Insert the second tube into the bottom of the float.
-
5
Adjust the float along the line so the hook rig and bait are at the desired depth below the Sheffield float. This will require some experimentation and adjustment, depending on the fishing conditions and location (river versus lake, for example). The float adjusts easily by removing the vinyl tubes and sliding the float body to the new position on the line, then replacing the tubes.
