Things You'll Need:
- Grill pan (optional)
-
Step 1
Heat the stove. Propane stoves can take time to get hot enough for cooking, so allow your stove time to heat up--that way your hamburgers will get a nice sear.
-
Step 2
Prepare your hamburgers. Use your favorite recipe and prepare burgers as you would for any other cooking method.
-
Step 3
Preheat your pan. If your propane stove doesn't have a built-in cooking surface/grill, you will need a pan that is appropriately sized for both the stove and the hamburgers. Cast iron is an excellent choice due to its superior heat retention properties, but stainless steel or aluminum will work. If you want your burgers to have an authentic grilled appearance, choose a grill pan with deep ridges to make grill marks.
-
Step 4
Place your hamburgers in the pan and cook. Depending on how much heat your propane stove produces, you may need to cook your hamburgers longer than usual. Allow them to cook on the first side for at least three minutes without moving them in order to form grill marks or a nicely seared crust.
