How to Make Free Beats on Your Computer

You don't need a drum set or expensive software to create your own beats. You can make free beats on your computer. There are two websites that allow you to create beats through their interface. You can save any beats you create and use them in your own projects. You can save money on equipment, such as electronic drum kits and keyboards, and software by using the easy to understand online beat creator Jam Studio.

      Visit the Jam Studio site listed in the References section. Allow the site to completely load before continuing.

      Select a chord from the "Chords" screen, located to the right of the screen. If you're not sure which chord to use, leave the settings at the default.

      Choose either "Drums" or "Bass" from the "Mixer" section to view possible drums and bass sounds you can use. You can change types throughout your beat by using the list box in the "Mixer" section. Click the small speaker beside your instrument, either "Drums" or "Bass," to activate the instrument.

      Press "Preview" to hear a sound before you use it. Select a tempo in the "Mixer" section after choosing your desired sound. Choose a volume as well.

      Create loops by clicking "Loop" in the "Mixer" section. Continue adding beats and looping current beats until your beat is complete.

      Click "Join Now" to become a free member of Jam Band. Enter a password and email address. Press "Save" to save your work.

Tips & Warnings

  • For more beat options, use Beaterator. The site works similar to Jam Band, but with a different variety of beats to use.

  • Never give out any personal information other than your initial log-in information to Jam Band. If you ever receive emails asking for more information, delete them immediately as these are spam emails.
