How to Fix Sticking Sliding Windows

However, there are also few things as annoying as having to brace yourself and tug with all your might just to get a window open. Fortunately, the solution does not require skilled handy work or fancy tools.   • Small brush
  • Soft rags

    • 1

      Vacuum any loose debris you are able to out of the visible part of the track. Open the window and do the same for the rest of the track.

      Use the small brush to scrub off any accumulated debris and dust out of the whole window track. Vacuum again to remove any loosened pieces.

      Use a soft rag to wipe out any dirt that couldn't be vacuumed out.

      Close the window and spray WD-40 along the section of window track that is visible.

      Open the window as far as it will go and spray WD-40 liberally on the rest of the track.

      Slide the window back and forth a few times to help distribute the lubricant and leave window in desired position. Reapply WD-40 as needed for maintenance when the window begins to stick again.
