Increasing your website or blog SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the best way to boost traffic to your site for the long haul. The better your SEO, the higher your site or blog will rank in the search engines, providing you with a steady amount of traffic for years to come.
Following are some fairly simple steps to help you increase SEO.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step to increased SEO is accomplished by providing quality content. After all, this is what your website or blog is based upon. Not only should you focus on quality, by providing interested and unique content, quantity also matters. This is especially true for content based sites, such as blogs and information based websites. Articles or posts should be a minimum of 300 words, and closer to 500 words for optimium keyword density (discussed in step 2) and indexing.

  2. Step 2

The keyword density of each post or article is also important to increase SEO. This simply means the number of times your keyword or phrase appears in each article. The goal should be approximately 3% density, which equates to 3 keywords/100 words. This means for each 500 word article, you would need to have your keyword or phrase appear 15 times throughout the content.
**Keywords are important in 'telling' the search engines what your site is about. This is how your site is chosen for specific keywords and gets listed in search results, in turn increasing traffic.

  3. Step 3

The third step to increasing SEO is to build backlinks to your website or blog. This is done be featuring a link on other (high traffic) sites. There are many techniques that can be used to both increase traffic immediately, as well as the SEO of your site. By placing backlinks (links to your site) on other sites, you will gain immediate traffic from visitors to each site that features your backlink, as well as by gaining 'popularity' for your site.
